Mission of the Organization

The exclusive mission of the APR Macedonia is to improve the quality of life of individuals and families in Macedonia affected by disabling mental illnesses. Towards this aim, APR has defined the following goals and tasks to acomplish:

  • Promote national and international policies and programs to meet basic and special needs of the mentally ill;
  • Collaborate with existing public and private organizations concerned with or potentially able to contribute towards psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Initiate and encourage educational programs to ensure maximum public, professional, and government understanding of the needs and rights of people with disabling mental illnesses;
  • Promote greater understanding and further the development and organization of family associations, mutual and self-help groups of individuals and families affected by disabling mental illnesses and foster dialogue among these groups and responsible policy makers and professionals
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance and speakers for local, national and international organizations and agencies to promote improved care, rehabilitation and services for the mentally ill;
  • Serve as a medium for international exchange of experience and compilation, dissemination of information, publications using different media
  • Organize and encourage international, national or regional seminars, conferences, research, training courses including Advanced Institutes for senior level personnel to introduce strategies for psychosocial rehabilitation, particularly in developing countries;
  • Publish and promote materials and media in the area of psychosocial rehabilitation for mental health workers at all levels, including at the primary health care level;
